Wimbledon 2022: 23 -year -old Elena Rayabkina won her Grand Slam title

Elena Rayabkina of Kazakhstan won the first Grand Slam title of her career on Saturday. The 23-year-old defeated Tunisian Oons Jabur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the final in the center court as the champion of Wimbledon 2022.

Jabeur qualified for the quarter -finals in SW19 last year and wanted to become the first Arab woman to win any Grand Slam. He started the match in a brilliant way, breaking Rayabkina's service twice. But the Kazakhstan star made a brilliant comeback since the second set.

Jabeur was clearly a favorite for winning the title, not only because she was a high -seeded player, but also showed her a lot of confidence due to her recent form.

Earlier, she became the first Arab woman to play in the Grand Slam final. In the last two sets, she looked somewhat different as Rayabkina dominated. Rayabkina could not take a single break in the first set but in the last two sets she broke her opponent's service four times.

Rayabkina defeated former world number 1 and former Wimbledon Champion Simona Halep in the semi -finals to enter the finals. In the final, the young player showed amazing mental strength and won the championship.

As far as Jabur is concerned, he made unexpected mistakes. She defeated her friend Tatjana Maria in a thrilling three-seater in the semi-finals, but failed to show the same continuity in the final.
