'Virat Kohli is a great player, but his name alone won't work'
Virat Kohli, who has been at the center of criticism, is ready to make a comeback in T20Is. When India take on England in the second T20I of the three-match series, Kohli will be under pressure to score runs anyway. Kohli is going through a tough phase. He was rested in the first T20 which India won.
The former India captain has been rested for the West Indies ODI series. After that his chances of playing in T20 are also 50-50.
Former cricketers line up in advising Kohli
Meanwhile, several former cricketers are already active in mentoring Kohli. While Michael Vaughan and Ravi Shastri have asked him to take a three-month long sabbatical, Rashid Latif has said that Kohli will eventually return to form.
Meanwhile, Karsan Ghavri also spoke about Kohli's form. In an exclusive interview to Jagran TV, he said that Kohli has to perform to stay in the team and his name alone is not enough to qualify him in the playing XI.
Ghavri looks disappointed at Kohli
Ghavri told Jagran TV, “Virat Kohli is such a great player for India, but unfortunately for the last two years, we have seen him chasing the ball outside the off-stump and getting out in the back or slips. He has to look at it and improve. He has to stop those shots because if he keeps going like this and gets out then there is a question mark why he is not scoring?'
Can't play on your name for long
He said, 'He will have to prove his form in the current series. These days you can't play on your name for long. Virat is a great player but his name alone will not work. They have to perform and score runs. This is how it goes. Everyone understands that he is going through a tough time and it happens to every player. He has the hunger for runs, the hunger for success in his heart but his individual form is quite disappointing.
Ghavri said that as long as you are fit enough, age has nothing to do with the game. But if you are not doing well and you are 35 years old then people will start questioning you.
